With the holiday rush/craze, building time has been almost non-existent. I'm stilling plugging away on my 1/350 model of the USS Gatling for my Uncle and hope to have it finished soon.

The mast is brass rod, the PE is a combination of the Eduard set with the railings from the GMM set - the one's that are specifically made for the Tamiya kit.

Right now I'm working on putting the main deck railings on. Once that's done, I have to add the hull numbers, then rig her.







The paint scheme is Ms 18, which is a 5N (Navy Blue) hull with 5H (Haze Gray) upperworks. I've gotten a chunk of deck, on the port side, between A & B turrets planked. Phew...is this time consuming!! Certainly chews up my lunch hour fairly quickly. I've just about run out of the first group of planks I cut, so it will soon be time to cut some more.

Overall, I'd say the planking is coming out "okay"...but since this is my first attempt and a learning process, I'm not too unhappy with my efforts.

My local hobby club meeting is this Friday, and I plan to bring the Bismarck hull along to display, so pictures should follow shortly after that.

Jeremy, I went back and looked at your Arizona and was absolutely floored! It is an absolute Masterpiece and the detail is utterly amazing! Still speechless.

Martin, your carriers are impecable and so clean. I was always impressed, but "seeing clearly" has really opened my eyes to the great model building you do!

To everyone else in the Galleries, OUTSTANDING work. What great models and now I can't wait to get more going on here and in the galleries. Now off to build some myself and get some photos up! :)

Is anyone been around or just too busy to say anything. Well I have been working on the Bismarck, but nothing to fancy to show just yet. Match parts up, marking locations for improvements and PE parts, checking fit and seams as well as writing out a plan format for progressive build instructions. I also made a list of just how much detail I will add and stick to it. I find that this keeps the project going smoothly and keep one sane. Once things start coming together, I will show some photos and do a Build Review of this project. Need to give everyone more interesting things to read here...LOL.

However, I have a serious ship bug bite itching, so I will be getting started on my Tamiya Bismarck while I wait for A-7 parts. Time to get planking. I just have to figure whether I am building her full hull or wateline.
